Special Issue: Application of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Methodologies in the Industry (AMCDMMI)

Overview:

Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) or Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) is a sub-discipline of Operations Research (OR) that clearly analyses multiple conflicting criteria in decision-making problems considering the details as much as possible. The assessment of alternatives is a difficult and complex task due to several kinds of variables that become related to specific decisions including environmental, social, physical, organizational social, and professional criteria in many decision-making problems. Over the past few years, researchers have developed several MCDM methods in a way to help decision-makers with the analysis and solution of decision-making problems in the industry. Moreover, due to the increasing uncertainty and complexity of objective characteristics and the fuzziness of human thought, great attention has been paid to studying the application of MCDM in uncertain environments. Therefore, it is important for decision-makers to understand the nature and meaning of uncertainty to improve their skills to make the best decision to decrease the level of risk in their final decisions. Furthermore, understanding the nature of uncertainty by decision-makers can decrease the rate of inconsistency and present reliable and robust results in terms of weights and measuring the performance. According to the current literature, there are different models to demonstrate the uncertainty, including probabilities, intervals, fuzzy sets, intuitionistic fuzzy sets, hesitant fuzzy sets, fuzzy linguistic approaches, hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets, and their extensions, rough sets, grey systems, and belief structures.

Potential topics:

Uncertain MCDM methods have been applied successfully in healthcare management. The main aim of this special issue is to explore the recent challenges and developments of MCDM approaches under uncertainty and disruptions in the industry. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit original research and critical survey manuscripts that propose uncertain MCDM approaches on the following potential topics and their applications, but are not limited to:

  • MCDM based on fuzzy theory
  • MCDM based on rough sets theory
  • MCDM based on grey theory
  • MCDM with imprecise judgments
  • MCDM based on stochastic control
  • MCDM with explicit risk measures
  • MCDM based on interval analysis theory
  • MCDM based on uncertain linguistic environment
  • MCDM with belief functions
  • MCDM based on game theory
  • MCDM with large scale group decision-making
  • Preference programming for MCDM under uncertainty
